Complete the Child Safe risk management plan training when it suits you

We have created an ‘on demand’ link to a recording of one of our popular ‘SSRC – Developing a Child Safe Risk Management Plan’ training. You can access the training any time you like, at GoTo Webinar. Our 2 risk management handbooks are available on our website resources page.

    Official Community Visitors Scheme

Official Community Visitors visit accommodation services providing full-time care for adults and children and assisted boarding houses in NSW. Their role is to promote the rights of children, young people and adults in residential care, and to help to resolve issues of concern by raising them with services in the first instance.

In SSRC, placements for children that are longer than 90 days are considered visitable.

In carrying out their role, Official Community Visitors may:

    • enter and inspect a visitable service at any reasonable time without providing notice of their visits
    • talk privately with any resident or person employed at the service
    • inspect any document held by the service that relates to the operation of the service
    • provide the Minister, the Ageing and Disability Commissioner, and the Children’s Guardian with advice and reports on matters relating to the conduct of the service, or matters affecting the welfare, interests and conditions of residents.

Please go to the OCV website for more information.

Working with children check verification – video guide now available

Employers must verify the Working with Children Check numbers of their workers online. This video shows why verifying is important and how to do it.

    Help with the SSRC Register

While you can always contact us if you have problems logging in, most questions can be resolved by checking one of our online resources.  It’s important to remember that you may get login errors because the platform resets passwords every 6 weeks.

For more information on how to reset your password or use the SSRC Register, the SSRC Register user manual (PDF) and a quick guide to updating the SSRC Register (PDF) are available online to help. We also have videos online that show you how to complete each task.

If you’ve made an error with logging a placement that you can’t undo yourself, such as creating a duplicate child record or placement, just send us an email and we’ll help.

    One-on-one new provider sessions

Our team is continuing to undertake check-ins with new providers, to provide you with an opportunity to ask questions about all things SSRC.

We’ll be reaching out to agencies soon, but if you’re interested in having a one-on-one chat to help you understand any aspect of SSRC, please send us an email and let us know you’re interested in a check-in.

    Contact us

If you have questions or suggestions for additional resources and training, you can reach out to us via email at ssrc@ocg.nsw.gov.au or by phone on (02) 8219 3798. We aim to respond to all requests within 3 business days.
