Eligibility to accept vouchers from February 2024

If you're approved as an Active and Creative Kids provider, you'll be able to accept and redeem vouchers from February 2024 through the Service NSW Business app.

    Eligibility requirements include:

    • demonstrating that your organisation is Child Safe
    • ensuring all your workers in child-related work have a verified Working with Children Check,
    • someone in your organisation has completed a specified Child Safe eLearning course.

A full list of eligibility requirements is available on the Service NSW website.

Register and verify Working with Children Checks

To be approved as an Active and Creative Kids provider, organisations must be registered as an employer with the Office of the Children's Guardian. Most Active and Creative Kids providers are already registered with us, and can provide their current registration information. If your organisation is not registered, you can register as an employer by completing an online application form that creates an online profile with us. Employers nominate a username and password so they can log into the online system and verify workers.

Organisations must verify Working with Children Check numbers online including:

    • new workers or volunteers, firstly using their Application (APP) number and then their WWCC clearance number
    • a renewed Check, updated after 5 years.

People in charge of verifying WWCC numbers must make sure their own Check (if required) is verified online by an appropriate person in the organisation. Employers cannot self-verify.

Sole traders such as tutors and coaches do not need to register as an employer. Instead, they must provide their WWCC number to Service NSW and to their clients who then need to verify the sole trader's WWCC number.

To verify someone, the client needs to either fill in the online form or use the QR code on the Service NSW app.

    Complete our eLearning

Organisations applying for eligible active activities must complete the Child Safe Sport eLearning course.

Organisations applying for eligible creative activities must complete the Child Safe eLearning - Keeping Children Safe in Organisations course.

    The Child Safe Standards

The NSW Child Safe Standards provide a framework for creating child safe organisations. They are designed to drive cultural change to create, maintain and improve child safe practices. When organisations apply the Standards, they build a culture where abuse of children is prevented, responded to and reported.

As an Active and Creative Kids provider, your organisation is required to implement the Child Safe Standards into practice.

Learn more about the NSW Child Safe Standards.

Find handbooks and tools to help you implement the Standards on our resources page.
