Voluntary out-of-home care application for registration, monitoring framework and associated documents.

On this page

The Office of the Children’s Guardian is responsible for registering and monitoring agencies that provide or arrange voluntary out-of-home care under the Children’s Guardian Act 2019 and Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Regulation 2012.

Agencies intending to provide or arrange voluntary out-of-home care must first be registered by the Office of the Children's Guardian. Before submitting an application, the agency must discuss their intention to register by contacting the  Voluntary Out-of-home Care Monitoring Team of the Office of the Children's Guardian.

The registration form is a compliance undertaking and a submission of relevant policy statements that detail an agency's practice, having regard to the voluntary out-of-home care procedures.

The Registration and monitoring guide describes the voluntary out-of-home care monitoring framework including the registration and self-certification process.  This document should be read in conjunction with:

    • Statutory procedures for voluntary out-of-home care
    • Application for voluntary out-of-home care registration (available on request)
    • Voluntary out-of-home care register manual

To register to provide or arrange voluntary out-of-home care, you must contact the Office of the Children's Guardian Voluntary Out-of-home Care team on (02) 8219 3798 or email voohc@ocg.nsw.gov.au to discuss your agency’s intended voluntary out-of-home care programs and obtain a copy of the application form.
